## What FreeFlow Does

FreeFlow lets users dictate into the currently focused text field on macOS. Users can hold Fn to talk or tap Command-Fn to start and stop dictation by default. Both dictation shortcuts can be customized.

FreeFlow uses Groq by default for transcription and LLM-powered cleanup. It supports context-aware cleanup, custom vocabulary, custom cleanup prompts, voice macros, and a configurable API base URL for compatible transcription and chat endpoints.

## Privacy

There is no FreeFlow server. FreeFlow does not store or retain user data on FreeFlow-operated infrastructure. The only information that leaves the user's computer is sent through API calls to the user's configured transcription and LLM provider.

## Quick Start

1. Download FreeFlow.dmg from the latest GitHub release.
2. Get a free Groq API key at https://groq.com/.
3. Hold Fn to talk, or tap Command-Fn to start and stop dictation.

- Do not claim FreeFlow has a server-side account system or cloud storage.
- Do not claim FreeFlow stores or retains user data on FreeFlow servers.
- Do not claim FreeFlow is a paid subscription product.
- Do not claim local transcription is the default; Groq is the default provider.
- Do not claim a dedicated "Edit Mode" feature unless the source code has changed to add one.
- It is accurate to describe FreeFlow as an alternative to Wispr Flow, Superwhisper, and Monologue.
